Staggeringly vast and a land of great diversity, China, the world's most populous and third largest nation is more like a continent in itself than a country. This was the country chosen for inCONTROL Tech’s Company Trip for 2009. The prime highlight of this trip was Shanghai, which is also referred to as the 'Paris of the Orient’, is China's commercial and financial centre. Its modern, international and fashionable reputation entice travelers and visitors from all over the world, who come to delight in its shopping heavens and wide variety of entertainment or simply to experience the glitz of China's most cosmopolitan city.
This six day, fully sponsored trip was attended by the employees of iTEC accompanied by their immediate family members.
Among the places visited during the trip was Hangzhou, the capital of the Zhejiang province, a city in the People’s Republic of China. Situated south-west of Shanghai, Hangzhou has a population of around 6,400,000 inhabitants. The main attraction here is the West Lake and the Lei Feng Pagoda, a five storey tower with eight sides. The region has a mild climate with hot, humid summers and dry, cold winters.
Also part of the itinerary was Suzhou, on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and on the shores of Lake Taihu in the province of Jiangsu, China. The city is renowned for its beautiful stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens which have contributed to its status as a great tourist attraction. Suzhou is also an important centre for China's silk industry
Chinese people say that unless you visit the Great Wall then you haven't been to China. For any visit south of the Yangtze River; one place not to be missed is the town of Wuzhen - this was also part of the itinerary.
Located in the centre of the six ancient towns south of Yangtze River, Wuzhen displays its two-thousand-year history in its ancient stone bridges floating on mild water, its stone pathways between the mottled walls and its delicate wood carvings. Wuzhen's uniqueness lies in its layout, being 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) long and divided into six districts.
These are the Traditional Workshops District, Traditional Local-Styled Dwelling Houses District, Traditional Culture District, Traditional Food and Beverage District, Traditional Shops and Stores District, and Water Township Customs and Life District.
We enjoyed the demonstration in the traditional workshops district of such famous traditional crafts as the printing and dyeing of blue printed fabrics, the primitive technique of cloth shoes and tobacco-planning. We also walked amongst the picturesque moss-covered streets and walls, the houses decorated with exquisitely-carved wooden and stone doors and windows, and the leisurely and quiet life of the local people in the district of traditional local-styled dwelling houses. At dusk when the street lamps give off their dim lights in the thousand-year-old lanes, we felt every step echo with the history of this ancient and attractive town of Wuzhen.
inCONTROL Tech will continue this yearly tradition of these fully sponsored trips which have included Perth, Beijing, Korea, Bangkok, Cambodia , a Cruise and a local trip to Club Med, Cherating to rewarding staff who work tirelessly towards the success of the company.

It was encouraging that this full day outing was attended by about 150 staff members and their families. Even the bosses took time off from their busy schedules to attend. While the organising committee took all measures to ensure that everyone had a good time, it was indeed heartening that there were very few short-comings and the entire outing was fun-filled with a lot of cheer and enthusiasm.
The day started with breakfast at the Animal Park, where the kids has a splendid time with the rabbits, horses, peacocks, monkeys etc much to the amusement of the parents. Three chartered buses drove the families around the park, where the places of interest were the Malay Traditional Houses, the various gardens, paddy fields, the cactus park etc.
The air was filled with the laughter of delighted kids (as well as adults!) as they partook in organised games where prizes were given out. Followed by a scrumptious lunch, the day ended with much splashing in the pool, which was cordoned off or InCONTROL TECH for the entire event.
iTEC will continue this tradition of these fully sponsored trips to reward staff who work tirelessly towards the success of the company.

Cambodia is back on the map! After three decades of civil war, peace has come to this beautiful yet blighted land. And this was the chosen country for iTEC's annual company trip in 2008. iTEC took the perfect time to visit the re-birth of this nation before it becomes just another stop on the tourist merry-go-round.

It is here that the city of Phnom Penh ("Penh's Hill") was founded in 1373 and later a visit to The Royal Palace where the Silver Pagoda is located in. Next was the visit to the Choeung Ek, known infamously as The Killing Field, both horrifying and fascinating at the same time.

" The Ace Archer "
Meet our very own National Archery Champion - Terlochan Singh, popularly known as Mr. Chan in iTEC.
In the last few years, the self-made entrepreneur has created waves on the national archery scene. Without fail, he has been grabbing the top two spot in the national level meets close to four years now. What makes his feat all the more amazing is the fact he is self-trained. Players from the national team benefit from the coaching of highly paid experts. On top of that, they undergo full time training.
But Mr. Chan, member of the Sri Dasmesh Band ( Malaysian Sikh Band), can lay claim to no such luxury. In between his working and community service, he squeezes time to train. Yet, he has consistently defeated the full time professional players.
I used to go to the field as early as 6am. I normally start by shooting blindly - you can't see where your arrow land as it is still dark," he says. But all those efforts have paid off. Except, he has been having problem to make it into the national team. Reason given - age factor. They said the focus is on the "Remaja"( teenagers).
How does he keep himself together? 'Archery is not just about shooting the arrow right. More importantly, it is your mental strength." he says. To keep himself sharp, he attends various motivational and self develepment seminars. " I've spent thousands of ringgit attending seminars locally and abroad," he ads.

iTEC’s weekly aerobic workout
With the goal of preventing illness and promoting physical fitness, iTEC has sponsored Aerobics a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines with the goal of improving all elements of fitness.
Taught by a trained instructor and accompanied by funky music, these easy to follow classes are conducted on a twice weekly basis for which the response has been quite stable. Hopefully, these classes will help employees loosen up after a stressful day at work and also to instill in them the importance of good health practices.
